Chelsea face Rice battle despite offering West Ham double swap deal

Declan Rice West Ham TEAMtalk
Chelsea are reportedly facing an uphill battle to land West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, despite offering two players in a swap deal.
The Blues are understood to be very keen on the 21-year-old, who is under contract until 2024. But Frank Lampard publicly dismissed interest in Rice recently.
Last month Lampard said: “Declan Rice is a good player, you’re right, and I’ve known Declan Rice for a long time. He was in the Chelsea academy, but there’s no talk.
“I keep saying, about every player we’ll be asked about. Until these games and this season is finished, there’s nothing to say.”
However, The Times now claims that Chelsea ‘have faced resistance to try’ and sign Rice. Adding that the Hammers ‘do not want to sell’ one of their top assets.

The report adds that the Stamford Bridge outfit ‘are willing to offer Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi to West Ham United as part of a swap deal for the England midfielder’, but the Hammers are not interested in either player.
David Moyes’ men are now in a ‘stronger position’, after avoiding relegation. And that could prove tougher for Chelsea to land Rice.
There even reports last week that Chelsea were willing to offload Jorginho in order to raise funds to sign Rice.

CHELSEA JOIN RACE FOR BUNDESLIGA WONDERKID

Chelsea are reportedly one of three clubs tracking the progress of highly-rated German wonderkid Lazar Samardzic.
The Hertha Berlin prodigy is attracting the attention of Serie A duo AC Milan and Juventus, as well as the Blues.

Attacking midfielder Samardzic has progressed through Hertha’s youth ranks. And despite breaking into the first team this season, he is now looking to leave the club.
The 18-year-old has made three Bundesliga appearances this term. But he has not featured since a 4-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in June, during which he came on as a first-half substitute but was then taken off again after the break.
