Chinese Super League bends one around the Great Firewall to launch an official Twitter account

Top flight also kicks off its own hashtag as it promises to highlight the best goals and saves each week in both English and Mandarin

The Chinese Super League has launched an official Twitter account despite the social media site being one of a number blocked on the mainland by the so-called Great Firewall.

The @cslfootball account launched on May 10 and has so far posted one tweet alongside kicking off its #CSL official hashtag.
The handle lists its location as Beijing, China.
Sport Business reports that the CSL is the first sports league in the country to launch an official account on the site and that it will post highlights in English and Mandarin.
China Sports Media head Jun Zhao told Sports Business that “Twitter was a natural choice for a sports league like CSL to connect with and reach out to international fans of the league in real time. Fans can also participate in conversations about the league with #CSL.”
The first set of goals and highlights is set to be posted on Tuesday.
The CSL joins several of its star foreign players including Oscar, Axel Witsel, Cedric Bakambu and Jon Obi Mikel on Twitter.
Several coaches are on the social media platform while there are also a number of fan accounts.
