Tottenham will be keen to keep the pressure on Chelsea when they travel to neighbouring West Ham for the Premier League fixture on Friday evening.
The Hammers continued their disastrous run over the weekend with a 0-0 draw against Stoke City. They were held goal-less by Everton in the previous week and altogether this is their third draw on the bounce. Their last 11 matches in the Premier League saw only 1 win, while they lost and drew 5 each.
West Ham are 15th in the league table with 39 points, which is only 7 more than Swansea at the edge of the relegation zone. As things stand, they need another three points from the remaining three matches to maintain their status as a Premier League team.
Tottenham remain four points below Chelsea and both teams have four more matches left to play in the season. So, it is pretty clear that both London clubs can’t afford to drop points.
Spurs are coming on the back of a huge win as they scored a rare victory over cross-city rivals Arsenal. This made it 9 Premier League wins on the bounce with 6 clean sheets during the period. They are further positives for Mauricio Pochettino as both Dele Alli and Harry Kane are in top form in recent weeks.
West Ham vs Tottenham: Head-to-head
Spurs won in 3 of the last 5 league meetings against West Ham, when they drew and lost 1 each.
The reverse fixture of the season at the White Hart Lane on November 2016 was an absolute thriller. The Hammers were leading 2-1 until Harry Kane strike twice within 2 minutes with seconds left on the clock to give his team a 3-2 win.
West Ham’s last 6 home matches against saw them win and lose 3 each, in an alternate fashion. The corresponding match of last season was a 1-0 win for the Hammers. If the pattern is followed, it will be time for Spurs to bag another win here.
West Ham vs Tottenham: Prediction
The form heavily favours Spurs, while West Ham are struggling to find any kind of form in their new home, the Wembley stadium.
However, the Spurs also struggled to get results at this venue while they were playing their Champions League home matches earlier this season. Their most recent defeat is in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea a few weeks ago.
Therefore, this could be a close match than most people anticipate. But, Spurs are expected to get their win eventually.
