Eintracht Frankfurt vs Koln
German Bundesliga 2016/17
Date: Saturday, 5th November 2016,
Kick-Off at 17:30 UK
Venue: Commerzbank-Arena, Frankfurt am Main.
Eintracht Frankfurt and Koln will play one of the most interesting clashes of the 11th round of Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon. Both teams are among the most pleasant surprised of the first part of the season in Germany, since they are both in the top part of the table, even though most of the experts believed they will be fighting for avoiding the relegation before the season started.
Frankfurt played as many as three draws in last five games. The team led by the Croat manager Niko Kovac (the member of the golden Croatian generation which won the bronze in France 1998) played two extraordinary matches from the tactical point of view in last two rounds. Lucas Hradecky managed to keep two clean sheets in a row from the last two visits to Hamburger SV and Borussia Monchengladbach. Marco Fabian and Alex Meier are first options up front, but we should not forget Branimir Hrgota and Haris Seferovic wither, as both can cause great damage from the bench.
Koln have been very consistent since the very start of the season. The Austrian manager Peter Stoger has been doing a tremendous job on the bench since the team is currently holding the 4th position in Bundesliga standings. Koln managed to immediately bounce back after the 2-1 defeat away at in-form Hertha Berlin, as they took a comfortable 3-0 win on home ground over Hamburger SV. The French striker Anthony Modeste is playing the season of his career, as he bagged the total of 11 goals, including the hat-trick from the last week’s demolishing win over HSV. He will obviously be the main target in the attack on Saturday evening against Frankfurt.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Koln: Head-to-Head Stats
The Saturday’s match will be 86th head to head encounter between the two sides. Koln have been slightly more successful by three wins, but interestingly, each of the last four encounters have seen home victories. Eintracht Frankfurt fans will surely not have anything against the same scenario this time. In general, last four matches offered true goal fests, giving the total of 23 goals, which is almost six per match!
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Koln: Prediction
The draw seems to be the most realistic of the three outcomes since both teams have been playing great lately. If we would have to choose for one of the sides, it would be Eintracht Frankfurt solely because of the home court advantage. Realistically, much will depend on the inspiration of Anthony Modeste for the visitors, while the hosts have much more options up front. Frankfurt not to lose is a banker definitely, but alternatively you can also go with ‘Both teams to score’ a goal at 4/5.
