Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen
German Bundesliga
Date: Saturday 26th November, 2016
Kick-off: 17:30 UK
Venue: Allianz Arena, Munich.
Carlo Ancelotti is not enjoying his best days in Munich recently. The Italian manager lost the first position in Bundesliga after the last weekend’s defeat to Dortmund in German classic, while he also lost all hopes to catching Atletico Madrid at the top of Bayern’s Champions League group with the Wednesday’s defeat to Rostov, which means that Bayern Munich will face a strong opponent in the last 16 round of the most elite football competition in Europe. When you add the home draw with Hoffenheim from two weeks ago, the streak of winless extends to three for the reigning champions.
The potential failure in the home game against Bayer Leverkusen would be a disaster for Ancelotti, as RB Leipzig would most likely go to five or six point’s difference at the top, while Borussia Dortmund could surpass them in the second position.
Bayer Leverkusen are not enjoying their best season in Bundesliga, as they are currently sitting at the 9th position. The team led by Roger Schmidt had a great opportunity to beat the current leaders RB Leipzig last Friday, but Hakan Calhanoglu failed to convert the penalty and make it 3-1 late in the second half. The visitors knew how to punish it and scored two goals till the end to take three points from BayArena.
The good news for Schmidt, though, is the fact Leverkusen secured the knockout phase of Champions League thanks to their away draw with CSKA Moscow and Monaco’s win over Tottenham Hotspur at Louis II stadium.
Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen: Head-to-Head Stats
Bayern Munich have obviously been much better in head to head encounters as they enter the 78th match against Bayer Leverkusen in hopes of snatching the 46th victory! Leverkusen, on the other side, only have 17.
Interestingly, each of the last five encounters between the two sides offered the option of one or none teams netting. The last match at Allianz Arena saw Bayern Munich taking a commanding 3-0 win, while the teams played goalless in the last game played back in February this year at BayArena.
Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen: Prediction
The bookmakers are offering 1/3 odds on Bayern Munich to end the negative run and claim the victory, but we would advise you to escape any home win bets at such low stakes. Instead, the main betting prediction for us will be Bayer Leverkusen to score a goal at 8/11!
