Kenyan Premier League disagrees with FKF’s league cancellation

The Kenyan Premier League oppose the decision by the governing body to cancel the league and seem keen on continuing regardless of their decision.
With the Coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe, all sporting activity across the planet has come to a halt.
The question facing every organisation now is how to proceed when the crisis is under control. The main two options seem to be to either void the season or to try and continue at the expense of next season.
’s football governing body, the Federation of Kenyan Football, have decided to cancel the 2019-20 Kenyan Premier League.
While this would normally be the end of the matter, the league itself are opposing the decision and have tried to make it clear that they are the only ones who can make such a decision.
In a statement, the league said “KPL would like clarification on which organ within the FKF’s met, deliberates regarding the status of the league. We seek to know this considering that the SDT Ruling of March 17, 2020, stated that the teem of the FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) had ended.”
“KPL is bound to that SDT Ruling and implementing any purported decisions emanating from unauthorized persons will amount to contempt of court. As a law-abiding institution, KPL would like to avoid doing so.”
At the time of the last set of matches, Gor Mahia lead the Kenyan Premier League by 7 points ahead of Kakamega Homeboyz.
Whatever the outcome of this stand-off, it is expected to be several months before any sort of resolution comes from the pandemic.
