Premier League clubs are planning to play the entire 2020/21 season behind closed doors

Premier League clubs are planning to play the entirety of the 2020/21 season behind closed doors.
According to the Daily Mail, plans are being drawn up to close stadiums to fans next season as the battle against coronavirus continues.
Discussions have been held about resuming the current campaign this summer but clubs are also exploring options for next season as well.
And one top-flight executive told the newspaper that they can’t see fans being allowed into stadiums until a vaccine for Covid-19 is available.
There are fears that the production and availability of a vaccine could stretch well into 2021.

It’s forced clubs to assess how their budgets would look if loss of ticket sales and matchday income for an entire year was considered.
Manchester United and Arsenal would be the biggest losers. Their matchday revenue stands at around £110 million and £100 million per season respectively.

A video conference between all 20 Premier League clubs was held on Friday, with the Big Six warning that a vote to curtail the current campaign for health reasons could lead to the 2020/21 season being scrapped.
Another meeting will take place next Friday which could see a vote held on whether to play the remainder of the season at neutral venues and behind closed doors or end it, which has happened in France.
All 20 clubs were told that the only way the season could continue is if neutral venues were used.
Up to 10 stadiums could be used, according to BBC Sport, as plans to play the 92 outstanding games were examined.
The Premier League would need up to 40,000 tests for players and staff. Clubs are only willing to continue “when safe and appropriate to do so”.
