Atlético dump Liverpool OUT; Neymar inspires PSG comeback

Holders Liverpool are OUT of the Champions League after an extraordinary clash with Atlético Madrid at Anfield.
A first-half Gini Wijnaldum goal levelled the tie for Liverpool and despite a second half onslaught from the home side, a second goal never came and proceedings went to extra time.
Roberto Firmino then put Jurgen Klopp’s side 2-0 up on the night and it looked like they’d be heading through.
But an error from Reds goalkeeper Adrian allowed Marcos Llorente to score a precious, precious away goal.
And four minutes later Llorente scored again to clinch it for the Spaniards before Alvaro Morata wrapped it up right at the death.

4-2 was how it finished on aggregate.

Borussia Dortmund are also out after Neymar and Juan Bernat scored a goal each for Paris Saint-Germain in an incredible opening 45 minutes for the hosts in an empty Parc des Princes.

Dortmund’s Emre Can was then sent off after clashing with Neymar in the dying stages, and 3-2 was how it finished to the French side on aggregate.

Atleti and PSG join Atalanta and RB Leipzig in the last eight.
