The make-shift centre-back conceeded a soft penalty by
in the game on Monday night.
The resulting penalty was scored, but Walker feels it was a harsh decision.
"I think in the Premier League I probably could have got away with it. Tripps (Trippier) has given me a shout to leave it so I’ve just tried to shield the ball because I knew no-one was with Tripps," he explained.
Regardless of whether it was a harsh decision, ex-Man Utd defenfer Ferdinand blaimed Walker for a lack of positional awareness in conceeding the foul.
"It is the one doubt anyone would have had over Kyle Walker playing centre half," he said on the 'BBC'.
"His body positioning there, facing your own goal. It should be facing the other way, where the ball is coming from and being able to see the player as well.
"He needs to open himself up. Here he’s looking at his goalkeeper and that’s criminal. He can’t see the attacker so he’s got no idea where he is. His arms come up, he doesn’t know there’s going to be contact and you get punished for that."
Even having conceeded the penalty, the Three Lions
through skipper Harry Kane's second goal, which sends the team to second place in Group G with two games remaining against Panama and Belgium.
