After a scoreless first half in Ulsan last week, Kim In-sung netted the only goal of the game midway through the second half to mean the 2012 winners travel to Suwon with a slender one-goal advantage to defend.
Suwon have a poor home record on the continent this year, having drawn one and lost two of three games in front of their own fans. They are aiming to progress to the quarter-finals for the first time since 2011, when they reached the last four.
Ulsan, meanwhile, are unbeaten on the road, having drawn all three of their games. If they achieve a similar result in Suwon they will qualify for their first quarter-finals since winning the competition in 2012.
The hosts defeated Daegu 2-0 at the weekend to move to second in K League 1, while the visitors drew 1-1 with Gyeongnam and are sixth in the standings.
