The 20-year-old has instead chosen to focus on his fitness after returning to action from a foot injury that kept him out of action between mid-January and mid-match.
McCrorie aggravated the injury during the winter break having previously tried to play through it, and he has now chosen to sacrifice the Toulon Tournamentin order to continue work on full fitness.
And the move could end up saving his Rangers career for so many reasons.
The Toulon Tournament takes place between 26th May and June 9th, and with new boss Steven Gerrard to officially kick off his reign on June 1st, it only makes sense for every player to be available when life under him begins.
The Liverpool legend will start assessing his squad immediately, and McCrorie knows he has to be available in order to make first and early impressions.
New centre-backs and defensive midfielders will be added to the squad during the summer window, and if the youngster wants to remain integral to Gerrard's Rangers plans, he can't afford not to be fully fit right now.
While he risks the ire of the Scotland under-21 coaches for choosing club above country, his career is on the line here, and getting injured while in France could deal a heavy blow on his chances at Rangers.
McCrorie has a lot of work to do if he is to keep his spot in the first-team, and choosing not to go to France with Scotland under-21 is a positive step in the right direction.
