Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero concedes it is now “impossible” for him to share a dressing room at club level with Lionel Messi.
Aguero, who is recovering from a knee injury that has kept him out for a month as he prepares for the World Cup with Argentina, was asked if he ever envisaged linking up with Messi away from the international stage at this time in his career.
“I think it’s impossible. Before there were possibilities. But I think we are now at an age where both of us is going to end his career at the club he is with now,” the 29-year-old told reporters, before going on to explain that he now believes his knee problem is a thing of the past.
“After five years the knee feels like new, although obviously I’ve had problems in other areas…these all came from the knee and now it is very different.
“For five years I couldn’t bend the knee at all and now it’s a relief,” he confessed.
