Borussia Dortmund’s superstar Jadon Sancho is unlikely to leave Germany in this transfer window, report Sky in Germany – but a move in the summer appears ‘a lot more likely‘, with Manchester City one of numerous clubs to have made ‘enquiries‘ about the winger’s future.
The Premier League champions are joined in the race for their former youth prospect by Chelsea, Manchester United, PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Sancho’s contract at Dortmund runs until 2022. The Bundesliga side are ‘determined‘ to oppose any January sale due to the unlikelihood of securing an adequate replacement in the same timeframe, Sky in Germany claims.
Dortmund presently sit in fourth place, seven points shy of top spot. They will want Sancho in order to challenge for the title and ensure their qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Sky in Germany adds that there is NO release clause in the player’s contract, which will make a colossal bidding war all but certain in the summer.
Manchester City do not have a buy-back clause but are entitled to match any offer accepted by Dortmund for Sancho, which would make negotiations smoother for Pep Guardiola’s team.
