Inter Miami CF and New York City FC square off in Group A match Monday morning with both teams seeking their first win of the MLS is Back Tournament and the 2020 MLS regular season.

Inter Miami, which squandered a second-half lead and fell to Orlando City SC in the first match of a budding Florida rivalry in the tournament's opening match, fell by the same scoreline to the Philadelphia Union in their second match. NYCFC fell to the Union, 1-0, in their opener before a 3-1 defeat to Orlando City SC.

Inter Miami fell into a 1-0 hole inside of five minutes with Kai Wagner putting the Union in front. Rodolfo Pizarro collected a feed from Matias Pellegrini and poked the ball past Andre Blake to finish off a well-worked counterattack to level in the 36th minute. But Kacper Przybylko netted the winner in the 63rd minute as the Union got loose on a counterattack of their own which culminated with the Polish forward placing a clinical finish past Luis Robles. Center back Andrés Reyes was shown a red card deep into stoppage time and is suspended for this tilt.

NYCFC's surprising early-season struggles continued with a 3-1 defeat to Orlando City SC. Chris Mueller bagged a brace inside of the opening 10 minutes to put the Cityzens on the ropes early. A thunderous strike by Jesus Medina in the 38th minute gave NYCFC a lifeline, but Tesho Akindele put the result away with an 81st-minute goal.
