SPFL directors tell Rangers to reveal evidence of ‘impropriety’

An open letter has been published by the SPFL, urging Rangers to bring forward any evidence of misconduct they have.

A group of SPFL directors has issued a call to Rangers to bring forward any proof of impropriety so the governing body can “interrogate any allegations of misconduct”.
The Ibrox outfit have already claimed to have evidence from a whistleblower, which they said raised serious concerns on how the vote on ending the lower league season was carried out.
They said it would be shared with other clubs before a meeting on May 12.
Six of the club representatives on the league board have said in an open letter they are “unaware of any impropriety or any disregard for appropriate qualities of corporate governance” and have asked the club to come forward.

The letter continued: “If Rangers Football Club has a dossier of evidence which shows anything to the contrary, then we would repeat the call for it to be brought forward immediately, because we, as club representative directors, have a clear duty to interrogate any allegations of misconduct or the like which it contains.”
The SPFL directors also outlined plans to publish a “comprehensive Q&A document” within the week, which it says will address “many of the claims or questions that have been put into the public domain.”
Rangers’ bid for an independent investigation into the vote to terminate the season will go to clubs on May 12.
The Ibrox club need 32 votes in their favour to force the probe.

“In keeping with SPFL Rules, we will now have a general meeting on May 12, when clubs will have the chance to either support or reject the resolution requisitioned by Heart of Midlothian, Rangers and Stranraer,” the SPFL’s open letter added.

It concluded: “But if the resolution fails to gain the support of enough members and the requisitioners nonetheless continue on their current course, the cost to our game will be incalculable.”
Motherwell chief executive Alan Burrows and Hamilton’s Les Gray, Ewen Cameron of Alloa, Dunfermline’s Ross McArthur, Brechin chairman Ken Ferguson and Peter Davidson of Montrose all signed the letter. The other club representative on the board is Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson.
