Seattle Sounders 0, Real Salt Lake 1 | 2018 MLS Match Recap

Sebastian "Bofo" Saucedo scored his first career MLS goal on a stunning strike from distance, and Real Salt Lake defeated the Seattle Sounders 1-0 to pick up their first away victory of the season.
Saucedo provided a moment of brilliance in an otherwise uneven match between an RSL side that has struggled away from home and a Seattle club that has struggled to stay healthy.
Nick Rimando made three saves to preserve a third clean sheet for RSL (5-6-1), while the Sounders (2-6-2) and their league-worst offense were kept scoreless for a seventh time.

Three Things

  • THE BIG PICTURE: The injuries keep coming for an already depleted Sounders squad, which lost Handwalla Bwana in the 33rd minute to an apparent leg ailment. Seattle entered Sunday already missing seven regulars to a combination of injuries and World Cup preparation, including attacking pieces Will BruinNicolas LodeiroVictor Rodriguez and Jordan Morris.
  • MOMENT OF THE MATCH: The 21-year-old Saucedo took Danilo Acosta's pass, cut inside defender Kelvin Leerdam and unleashed a 25-yard curler that gave Sounders 'keeper Stefan Frei little chance. However long his career stretches, the Homegrown Player will struggle to score a better goal than his first, which came in his 37th league appearance.
  • MAN OF THE MATCH: Rimando has seen busier matches, but each of his saves were less routine than they looked. His first-half denials of Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Nouhou Tolo in quick succession were the kind of moments RSL needed to settle in on the road. Then he maybe got his fingertips to Lamar Neagle's second-half header.
