Dan Walker starts the day presenting Football Focus (BBC One, 2-3pm) from the magnificent Wembley stadium alongside guests including Eidur Gudjonsen, Paul Ince, Alex Scott and Jaap Stam. Dan and the team will look ahead to the match while soaking up the atmosphere from Wembley Way.
A special José Mourinho interview follows called Mourinho And Manchester, United (BBC One, 3-3.15pm) with Dan Walker sitting down with the Manchester United manager to discuss his time at Old Trafford, what continues to drive him on, and what the future might hold.
Audiences will then be able to watch The Road To Wembley (BBC One, 3.20-3.50pm), which tells the story of this season’s FA Cup, the oldest and most prestigious domestic club competition in world football. As well as charting how the two finalists secured their place at Wembley, there will be a look back at the memorable upsets, including Wigan’s surprise win against Manchester City in round five and Coventry’s victory versus Stoke in the third round.
Gary Lineker then leads the build up to the main event live on BBC One from 4.10pm with Alan Shearer, Ian Wright, Ruud Gullit and Phil Neville. The last time Manchester United and Chelsea met in the final, the match was won with just a minute of extra time to spare by a Didier Drogba goal in the first final at the new Wembley. Therefore, it is only fitting a feature of the man himself is one of the highlights in the pre-match build up to provide his story from that electric day eleven years ago.
Martin Keown is on co-commentary duties alongside Steve Wilson, who will be commentating on his first ever FA Cup Final and Gabby Logan and Dan Walker are pitch side reporting.
Alongside live HD coverage, news analysis across BBC Sport’s digital service, a new Player Rater on the BBC Sport website and app will allow fans to rate the players from both teams throughout the match and share their thoughts. After the whistle has blown, the average ratings for each player will be displayed and analysed in the studio, but will our expert pundits agree with those watching at home?
Fans can also vote on the all-important goal of the tournament and undertake a special FA Cup quiz to test their knowledge from the jam packed season. Fans can also watch the FA Cup Final live on the BBC iPlayer and the game will be available for 30 days.

A special FA Cup Final Rewind on 18 May from middayon the BBC Sport website will show Liverpool v West Ham in 2006. There will also be match coverage, report, analysis and highlights. From Sunday, audiences will be able to watch the FA Cup Final catch-up video via BBC Sport online and read Alan Shearer’s exclusive post-match analysis.
England and Arsenal’s Alex Scott will lead the BBC’s social media offering on the day via Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Facebook to bring behind the scenes contents to viewers in more depth than ever before.
On Radio 5 live, Mark Chapman presents live build-up bringing all the colour and atmosphere from Wembley before he is joined by John Murray, Ian Dennis and Robbie Savage on commentary duties. Live radio commentary will also be on BBC World Service for football fans further afield.
The FA People’s Cup 2018 champions will be presented with their trophies on-pitch at half-time in the Cup Final by Alex Scott. The Story of FA People’s Cup 2018 review show, hosted by Nick Bright can also be viewed on Red Button and iPlayer on the day from 7.30pm.
As the day draws to a close, MOTD will bring audiences who are not able to catch the live action extensive highlights at 10.30pm on BBC One, presented by Jason Mohammad.
After the winners have lifted the trophy and the excitement from the day has died down, viewers can settle down to an evening dedicated to the legendary John Motson to celebrate his retirement after an extraordinary 50-year career as a broadcaster. The night will see Motty in the famous Mastermind chair putting questions to four brave celebrities in a football special of Motty Mastermind.
Documentary, Motty - The Man Behind The Sheepskin Coat, will follow and offer a revealing portrait of John’s life with the evening rounding off with Motty’s 20 greatest commentary moments in Countdown to the Full Motty, introduced by Gary Lineker.
