Gareth Bale could play for Wales at the Euros next year fresh from a stint in America, according to reports.
The Wales superstar is said to be wanted by David Beckham's ambitious MLS side Inter Miami who are being backed to land their target.
Bale was on the brink of a shock move to China last year, before Real Madrid pulled the plug at the 11th hour.
However, Inter Miami owner and President Beckham is hoping to succeed where Chinese Super League outfit Jiangsu Suning failed by rescuing Bale from his Real Madrid woes.
Bale's game time has been limited at the Bernabeu and he is said to be one of a number of big-name stars Real boss Zinedine Zidane wants to offload this summer as part of a rebuilding plan.
Premier League clubs have been alerted to the situation, but Bale's reported £600,000 a week salary will put many of them off.
However, as with China, American clubs are pushing the boat out financially to attract big names.
Even though football across the pond is nowhere near as competitive as Europe's best leagues, the American dream could appeal to Bale.
USA legend Alexi Lalas, capped 96 times by America, feels the move could come off - and cites Bale's love of golf as a reason.
“While I’m a little bit making fun of the golf part of it, we know that it’s a huge, huge part of him," said Lalas.
“He loves to golf, and the ability to make a good chunk of money in a place that he would be very happy, and for him to be able to train and then play golf on a daily basis, I think that would be incredibly attractive to him.
“He’s going to be able to play golf no matter what, but I still feel that this type of setting for someone like him in particular really looks like something that could happen.”
Bale recently told The Hat-Trick podcast that playing in the MLS appealed.
“I think it’s a league that’s on the up and still rising,” said Bale. “I think a lot more players want to come over to America and play. I’d definitely be interested in it. I love going to Los Angeles on holiday and stuff like that.”
Bale's Real Madrid team-mate James Rodriguez and Barcelona’s Chilean midfield man Arturo Vidal have also been linked with moves to Florida.
Beckham's sporting director at Inter Miami Paul McDonough said: "We’re constantly looking at players and trying to gauge the market and see what comes available.
"It’s great that a lot of people are linked to Miami, but we’re just looking for the right couple of pieces here to finish it off."
Bale wants to remain with Real Madrid and help them win more honours, but it appears his match time would become more and more limited under Zidane when football resumes.
Beckham and Wales boss Ryan Giggs, of course, are close friends from their Manchester United playing days and may discuss the Bale situation in private.
Giggs will want his talisman fit and firing for the Euros and feels a more competitive league would suit him better ahead of the tournament.
However, Bale's body would take less of a battering in the MLS and surprisingly he might see America as an opportunity for regular game time and to ensure he is ready for the Euros.
Manchester United and Tottenham are amongst the clubs keen to bring Bale back to the hurly burly and more competitive nature of the Premier League.
