It was another setback for Lyon last weekend as they were reminded just how good PSG are as the club lost 4-2 and Lyon are back down in 9th place and PSG almost have double the points of the club. Lyon’s objective has to be European football but that isn’t guaranteed now with so many other teams in the mix.

The club come into this game with no wins in their last 3 and at home they have only won 4 games from 11, everything about their season so far says not good enough. However, a win could take the club up a couple of places.

Strasbourg got an excellent result last weekend easily beating Reims 3-0. This has moved the club up to 7th place and they are on 36 points and three clear of Lyon. They are in good form also and have won 3 of their last four games which includes winning back to back matches coming into this game. Whilst away form has been poor losing 7 overall, recent form has been very good and Strasbourg have been able to pick up 9 points from their last 12 on the road which is very impressive.

Lyon have the quality to win this game by a good margin but surely the value is with the away side here who are on really good form and should be able to give Lyon a tough game.

Lyon have lots of mixed emotions and it feels as if they need this season over so they can regroup. The opposite can be said of Strasbourg whose confidence is good again and a win would be big for the club in terms of league positions.

One wonders why Strasbourg are not the favourites to win this game and we will back them to do so.
