UPDATE, 9 am ET, Dec. 30: Felipe Cardenas, The Athletic's Atlanta United reporter, took to Twitter late Sunday evening to reveal that LGP's transfer to Xolos is "confirmed," and that the Argentine could be in their kit when the 2020 Clausura kicks off on Jan. 10. Both the player himself and his wife Melina dropped hefty hints by posting images of their travel to Mexico in their Instagram stories.

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
DECEMBER 27: It appears Club Tijuana is inching closer to signing Atlanta United center back Leandro Gonzalez Pirez.
According to Buenos Aires-based reporter Cesar Luis Merlo, who cited sources in a story for Mexican outlet AM, the purchase of the Argentine “is about to close.” Reportedly, Gonzalez Pirez also spoke to former Atlanta United coach Tata Martino, now the Mexican national team manager, about competing in Liga MX.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution subsequently reported the move is “90 percent done,” according to a source.
The 27-year-old Gonzalez Pirez has made 95 regular season starts in three seasons with Atlanta United since his transfer from Estudiantes in Jan. 2017. The left-footed center back has twice finished in the top five for MLS Defender of the Year. He was previously linked with a move to Boca Juniors in his homeland, but that deal a year ago never materialized.
Last month, Atlanta executive Carlos Bocanegra said LGP was under contract for multiple seasons after the club picked up his option for 2020.
