England – Premier League

Kick-off at 16:30 UK/ 17:30 CET
Venue: Anfield (Liverpool).
Liverpool effectively ended any competition for the title the last match-day, as they defeated the second-placed Leicester with a 0-4 scoreline, and at the King Power Stadium, of all places. They will be eager to keep the momentum going on, and at Anfield, against a comparatively inexperienced Wolves side, Jurgen Klopp’s men are the overwhelming favorites.
Liverpool vs Wolves Head-to-head (h2h)
- The last time these two met, Liverpool won 2-0.
- Wolves last kept a clean sheet back in 2010.
- Seven of the former ten wins went to the Reds.
- Klopp’s men kept clean sheets in three of the previous six meetings at this venue.
Liverpool vs Wolves Match Preview
Honestly, no team in England seems capable of defeating the Reds at the moment. They are practically cruising to the title unopposed, and keep note that this is a league that also accommodates Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
After the manner in which the 2015-16 champions were dealt with the last match-day, Liverpool now can afford to think about delivering the Golden Premier League (hope it not gets jinxed!) for their fans.
At this halfway point of PL campaign, they have dropped a total of just two points, and it would certainly be something to go through the whole PL season unbeaten – something which only Arsenal have done in the modern era.
Liverpool vs Wolves Prediction
Liverpool won against former champions the Foxes, the last match-day. Against arguably the best defense in the competition, they netted four goals, that too without conceding any, to post a 13-point lead at the top.
In the meantime, Wolves were on the road, and scripted a 1-2 comeback win against Norwich, to still be in contention for a spot in the top-six.
As things stand, Liverpool emerge as the outright favorites to post the three points. Not only have they been the best team in England by a mile, but they are officially the champions of Europe, and the World as well.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have picked up things from where they left off last season. They have a lead of 13 points at the top of the table, and this coming in spite of playing a game fewer.
In fact, keep note that they have won 17 of their total 18 PL games this season, and won every single such fixture at this venue.
They have also taken back the mantle of having the best backline in the league, as at present they have conceded the least number of goals in the competition (just 14 goals from 18 match-ups).
Moreover, this season, they were unbeaten in 28 of their last 30 overall games, and the only two losses they suffered in the process had come in the Champions League (against Napoli on the road), and against Aston Villa in the EFL Cup (as the team had to field players from their U-23 squad due to the main team taking part in the Club World Cup).
On the other hand, Wolves were winless in four of their last seven overall match-ups, and were so in five of their former seven on the road. Furthermore, the Reds have also dominated this opponent in h2h clashes in recent years.
To quote a stat, Klopp’s men recorded seven of the previous ten h2h wins, and the last they failed to score against this opponent was back in 2010. Do also note that, at Anfield, Liverpool have lost just once in the past ten years, and just twice in the preceding 15 years.
Considering all these observations together, rightfully expect Liverpool to keep their dangerous form on, and record another dominating and convincing win in pursuit of the league title.
