This is impressive.
Robert Lewandowski scored a brace against RB Leipzig on Saturday helping Bayern to an incredible and improbable comeback and a 5-4 victory. The two goals put Lewandowski on top of the goalscoring charts with 30 goals.
This is the second consecutive season that Lewandowski has hit the 30 goal mark. This is the 11th time in Bundesliga history that a player has hit the 30 goals mark in a single season. (There’s still a chance that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can score 30 goals this season, too.)
Lewandowski is now the second player in the history of the Bundesliga to score 30 goals in consecutive seasons. The other was the legendary Gerd Müller. Der Bomber scored 30 goals in five seasons. He did it in back to back seasons in 1968-69 and 1969-70, and he pulled a threepeat from 1971-72 through 1973-74.
This is an incredible accomplishment for Lewandowski, and he will surely be going for a threepeat of his own next season.
