RB Leipzig vs Marseille: Preview and Predictions

RB Leipzig - OM : les compos (21h05 sur W9 et beIN 1)

RB Leipzig vs Olympique Marseille
UEFA Europa League
Date: Thursday, 5 April 2018
Kick-Off at 20:05 UK
Venue: Red Bull Arena (Leipzig).
Both RB Leipzig and Olympique Marseille were quite inspired at the weekend bagging three goals each in their respective league ties with Hannover 96 and Dijon. Such an attacking form promises a goal fest when they take on each other in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarterfinal on Thursday evening at Red Bull Arena.
There is no genuine favourite over two legs here, but bookmakers give much higher chances to the Germans to clinch the victory in front of their fans. Ralph Hasenhuttl and his men will indeed be encouraged after back-to-back wins in Bundesliga, particularly the one over runaway leaders and German giants Bayern Munich before the international break. The hosts have a strong firepower on display in the likes of Timo Werner (team’s top scorer), Emil Forsberg (broke the deadlock in the weekend’s win away at Hannover) and Yussuf Poulsen (was also on target in the mentioned victory).
The Phocians can also be super dangerous in the final third. They’ve bagged seven goals in three straight wins on the road in all competitions. Valere Germain, Lucas Ocampos and Dmitri Payet all scored goals on Saturday against Dijon away at Stade Gaston-Gerard. Germain has been enjoying a stellar form in this term of Europa League as he already has seven goals to his name in this competition.

RB Leipzig vs Marseille: Head-to-head

The two sides have never previously had the chance to take on each other.

RB Leipzig vs Marseille: Prediction

Backing goals at both ends just has to be the way to go given that both sides come into this in a splendid attacking form.
As for the outcome, there is just no value in backing the hosts to grab the win at 1.75 which is why we’ll rather skip it. Since we expect it to be a high-scoring contest, we’ll rather go with Timo Werner to score anytime for the hosts at the odds of 1.72.
