Lazio vs Salzburg
UEFA Europa League
Date: Thursday, 5 April 2018
Kick-Off at 20:05 UK
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Rome).
Salzburg are one of the most pleasant surprises of the competition in this tern of Europa League. The Austrian champions shockingly eliminated the likes of Real Sociedad and Borussia Dortmund on their way to the last eight. The next obstacle comes in the likes of Italian Lazio who will be favourites to gain advantage in the first leg of the home match on Thursday evening.
Biancocelesti managed see off Ukraine Dynamo Kyiv in spite of playing only a 2-2 draw in the first game at Olimpico. Lucas Leiva and Stefan de Vrij notched goals in a 0-2 victory in the reverse fixture in Ukrainian capital. Simone Inzaghi’s men have generally seen a massive slide in form over the last couple of weeks.
Lazio dropped out of the top four in the domestic campaign after clinching just two points in three games. The negative run was caused by the lack of meticulousness at the back. The poor defensive form continued aft5er the international break when Lazio conceded two goals at home to the rock-bottomed Benevento side. Luckily for Inzaghi, the attacking line did the job in the second half and his men ended up destroying the opposition 6-2 at Olimpico.
Team’s top scorer Ciro Immobile has notched a brace, while both Lucas Leiva and Stefan de Vrij were also on target on Saturday afternoon. Immobile has bagged six goals so far in Europa League and he is our top suggestion for the anytime goalscorer against Salzburg.

Lazio vs Salzburg: Head-to-head

Lazio and Salzburg faced each other in Europa League’s group phase nine years ago.
Salzburg were much more successful winning both ties with the same 2-1 scoreline.
Interestingly, the Austrians had a perfect record of six wins in six matches in that group (Villarreal, Lazio and Levski Sofia).

Lazio vs Salzburg: Prediction

Lazio come into this as favourites, but we just can’t underestimate Salzburg here.
The team led by Marco Rose is unbeaten in 2018. They’ve won 10 and drawn 3 of 13 competitive games so far in the year.
The way to go would be backing goals at both ends since Lazio have been super easy to break down lately. Braver tipsters can chase an upset and back Salzburg not to lose at 2.05.
