Chelsea player ratings vs Barcelona: More to learn for u19s beaten in Uefa Youth League final

There was plenty of promise but more to learn for Chelsea's young guns

Finals are often all about winning but Barcelona showed Chelsea under 19s they had plenty to learn in their 3-0 defeat in the Uefa Youth League final.
Both sides had been impressive in their path to Nyon, with the Blues tasting defeat just once against Roma while the Catalans were unbeaten.
The La Masia products won 5-4 against Manchester City in the semi-final but this match never looked like following a similar route.
In typical tika taka style the Spanish team dominated possession in the first half but did struggle to threaten the Blues' area.
As the opening period progressed, Chelsea's three defenders Dujon Sterling, Marc Guehi and Josh Grant were put under more pressure by Barca's front three.
Abel Ruiz showed great feet and movement on the left before driving into the box to cross for Alejandro Marques to score a diving header in the 33rd minute.
Marques added a second when he caught Guehi in possession and produced a cool finish past Jamie Cummings after half time.
The Blues came into the game when they changed to four at the back but were unable to truly threaten Ignacio Pena's goal before Ruiz added a third in added time.
See how the players rated below:

Jamie Cummings 6

Didn't have a great deal to do for most of the game, and was left helpless for the Catalan side's two goals. Struggled to initiate forward play with his distribution but saved well when required.

Dujon Sterling 5

Already has an impressive reputation to live up to but looked a yard off the pace when at the centre of Barcelona's passing and committed a few late tackles.

Marc Guehi 6

Looked good at the heart of the back three but was caught in position by Marques for the second goal of the match. Substituted shortly afterwards.

Josh Grant 5

Like his two fellow defenders looked measured and comfortable for large parts. Failed to put enough pressure on Marques when Barcelona opened the scoring.

Reece James 7

Promising display on both flanks, particularly going forward. Very tidy feet and full of pace, with some teasing crossed to match.

Harvey St Clair 6

Sloppy in possession during the first half but always looked keen to try and make something happen. Continued to find the ball in the second and was more composed.

Josh Maddox 5

Found it difficult to impose himself on the game as Barcelona dominated possession while he was on the pitch.

Luke McCormick 6

Struggled in Chelsea's initial 352 formation Chelsea employed but showed his creativity in the second to pose more problems for the Barcelona defence.

Juan Familio-Castillo 6

Another Blues youngster who had a quiet first period before coming into the game in the second as an overlapping full-back.

Deshawn Redan 5

Showed good movement on the front line during the first half alongside Hudsgon-Odoi but was left isolated for the most part. Substituted during the second period.

Callum Hudson-Odoi 6

A very quiet first half but provided a greater threat in the second. Came very close to scoring with a low, curled free kick. Shpwed plenty of promise, beating players when he floated out wide.

Subs

George McEachran 6 Made an immediate impact upon his introduction when he found McCormick. Lively and would like to see more of him.
Charlie Brown 6 Produced some good hold up play but still didn't have many chances.
Tariq Lamptey N/A Positive contribution when he was introduced but not enough time to impact the game.
