Myanmar National League champions Yadanarbon FC and Vietnam’s Than Quang Ninh face each other in a crucial Group H clash of the AFC Cup on Tuesday at Mandalar Thiri Stadium in Mandalay.
In the standings, Singapore’s Home United have already won Group H following three wins from four to sit on nine points, with Yadanardon on four and Than Quang Ninh with one point.
While Home United have already claimed top spot, Yadanarbon still have a chance to advance as the highest-finishing runner up in the ASEAN Zone – albeit a very slim chance – and that must include a win over Than Quang Ninh.
Even then, it would take a minor miracle for the Myanmar team to progress as several results would need to go their way.
On March 8, the two sides faced each other for the first time in Hanoi, where the score ended 1-1.
Yadanarbon started their AFC Cup group campaign perfectly by beating Home United 1-0 in Mandalay but since then have struggled, failing to win on the road.
While they will be boosted by home advantage, they will be without suspended trio Ye Ko Oo, Yan Paing and Thet Naing for Tuesday's clash.
Visiting Than Quang Ninh's only point in the group comes from the draw against Yadanarbon. They welcome back forward Mac Hong Quan from suspension and another danger man is midfielder Vu Minh Tuan, who has scored three goals so far.
