We travel to Augsburg to try to secure 3rd on the table. Can we find the result against the struggling Bavarian side?
We did the job we needed to do against Hoffenheim, now we just need to finish the season out strong. After a week of Tuchel rumors circulating the media, the manager indicated that the team will shrug off the bad press. In good news, Marc Bartra will be ready to play against Augsburg as long as he can play with the cast! As for injuries, nothing new as Sahin and Gotze will not be fit.
Augsburg slowed down this year relative the their recent success in the Bundesliga. They currently sit 13th on the table and are in small danger of falling to a relegation game spot. They are going to be fighting with their back against the wall and they only need one point from us to stay ahead of Mainz and HSV. They have only scored 34 goals in the Bundesliga this year, nearly half of we have scored. Our last time against them we tied 1-1 to finish out the first half of the season in disappointment. Their one goal came from Ji-Dong Won who is sure to be playing against us tomorrow. FCA have been a fun feel good side in the Bundesliga since they came up, it’s going to be a shame we will put them in trouble with a win. For us staying above Hoffenheim is the main objective.
As for our team I’d expect to see Burki-Piz-Sokratis-Ginter-Schmelzer-Weigl-Reus-Raph-Castro-Dembele-Aubameyang. A safe lineup that should be able to get the work done on both sides of the ball. It would be nice to see Pulisic get a good amount of playing time, especially with Dembele being iffy in his last few matches. Hopefully we can gain a lead big enough that Bartra can come on to the roar of the away fans. We should keep in mind he did blow the game last time we played against Augsburg. Since the season is finishing up I’d like to see guys like Passlack and Brunn Larsen get a run out as well. There will be a lot of questions to ask about our roster this summer so we may as well take a last inventory of what we have. Also, please Tuchel, let poor Park Joo-ho sit on the bench on the very least!
What are your predictions for the match?
