Liverpool vs Shrewsbury Prediction & Match Preview

Liverpool vs Shrewsbury
England – FA Cup
Date: Tuesday, 4 February 2020
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Anfield.
Liverpool are yet to be humbled in front of the home crowd this season. With Shrewsbury far from convincing on the road, the visitors are in for a tough set of ninety minutes come Tuesday.
Liverpool fielded a fairly youthful side in their reverse fixture with Shrewsbury on the road and subsequently came away with a 2-2 scorecard. Despite taking the initial lead in the first half and then further doubling it post the restart, the hosts fell out of their groove soon after the hour mark and conceded twice in the span of ten minutes.
Nevertheless, Jurgen Klopp’s men should feel confident of getting the better of the visitors in their own backyard this week.
On the other hand, Shrewsbury will be making the trip to the intimidating Anfield on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Rochdale on the road. At the moment, the guests are winless in their past four fixtures in all competitions. Currently, they are sporting a dismal two-match losing streak as well.
To make matters worse, the visitors have been struggling to get things going for them on the road this season. The fact that they have not come out on top away from home since their 1-0 win over Blackpool back in December, certainly speaks volumes.
It is also worth mentioning that Shrewsbury are part of the third division, which is no way near as competitive as the Premier League where Liverpool are currently plying their trade.

Liverpool vs Shrewsbury Head to head (h2h)

Their only recent meeting was the first leg of this clash which saw both teams score two goals apiece.

Liverpool vs Shrewsbury Prediction

Taking into account that Anfield has been a fortress for the Reds this season, Shrewsbury are the outright underdogs in this one.
However, Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that he will not be featuring any of his senior players in the clash this week. Instead, he will be looking towards his U23’s to get the job done. Hence, a Draw no bet is sizing up to be the safest punt.
Furthermore, Liverpool know their way around in the final third, and even more so on home soil. Impressively, they have found the back of the net ten times from their last five games here whilst conceding none.
Additionally, there were no dearth of goals in the reverse clash either. Hence, a high scoring affair is certainly on the cards this week as well.
