Another edition of the famed Derby della Capitale is in store as Roma and Lazio meet up on Sunday afternoon.
This will be the fourth meeting this season between the bitter cross-town rivals, and the second time this month. Roma come into this game having won all but one out of their last eight games across all competitions, including a comfortable 4-1 win over Pescara on Monday. However, despite this impressive run, they have exited two competitions – the Europa League and the Coppa Italia. In both those cases, they won the second leg, but it was not enough to undo the damage from losing the first leg.
The Scudetto is also a foregone conclusion, as Juventus have an eight-point lead with just a few games to go. With that in mind, Luciano Spalletti’s side have focused on securing second place, which will guarantee them an automatic spot in the Champions League. As for Lazio, they knocked Roma out of the Coppa Italia and are on course to feature in the final against reigning champs Juventus.
For the Biancocelesti, they are out of the top three, so Champions League football is not on the cards. Still, they can certainly clinch some silverware if they can defeat Juventus, and that’s where Simone Inzaghi has turned his focus. Like Roma, Lazio come into this game having earned a resounding win over a relegation-threatened side. They swept aside Palermo with ease, firing in six past the struggling Rosanero to further enhance their chances at finishing in fourth spot.

Roma vs Lazio: Prediction
Roma have been quite formidable at the Stadio Olimpico, winning 14 out of their 16 games at this ground. They have also netted in every single one of their home matches. Meanwhile, Lazio have netted an impressive 60 goals so far and have scored at least two goals in five out of their last six away games. That being said, they have conceded at least two goals in their last three, and overall, have conceded in nearly 80 per cent of their games.
All signs point to an open end-to-end match with plenty of goals at both ends. Roma have a very tough run of fixtures coming up; after this, they take on Juventus and AC Milan. Fans could be in for a real thriller, and there will be more than just three points on the table as bitter rivals meet in the fourth Derby della Capitale of this season.
