MLS Cup: Remaining tickets sell out in three minutes

Major League Soccer announced Monday that tickets for the MLS Cup final Saturday between Toronto FC and the Seattle Sounders sold out three minutes after going on sale to the general public. That followed a presale to Toronto FC’s season-ticket holders and the issuance of an allotment of away tickets (roughly 1,500) to the Sounders.

BMO Field will have a capacity of 36,000 for 2016 MLS Cup. Attendance was 21,700 for the 2010 final between the Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas.

The stadium, located at Exhibition Place near Lake Ontario, has been renovated in the last two years and expanded to a capacity of 30,991 fans. Temporary seats were added in the south end for the recent Grey Cup, the Canadian Football League championship game between Ottawa and Calgary.

If any additional tickets become available, they will be released to the public later in the week. StubHub lists tickets available beginning at a price of $222.22.
