FC Barcelona will host Borussia Moenchengladbach in the last group game of 2016-17 Champions League on Tuesday, 06 December 2016. It is a dead rubber with group C already decided where Barcelona qualify as group winners while Manchester City confirm second place. Gladbach has already dropped to Europa League so we can expect Luis Enrique putting together a very under strength side on tueday night.
FC Barcelona absolute hammered Celtic on the opening matchday winning the game 7-0 at Camp Nou thanks to incredible performance by Lionel Messi who grabbed hattrick while Luis Suarez scored a brace. Now they will be without Messi but still hot favourite to win all three points tonight. Gladbach on the other hand are struggling in the league and they were pretty much outplayed by Manchester City on the opening matchday conceded 4 goals at Etihad Stadium. This group looks pretty straight forward with City and Barcelona favourite to get through while Gladbach and Celtic will fight it out for third place unless one of these two put together historic run of results in remaining group fixtures.
Team News & Lineups: Gladbach has struggled in away matches but at home they have been absolute class winning 11 of their recent games however they will be without Schubert while Tobias Strobl is a major doubt for Barcelona clash. Barca on the other hand will be without Lionel Messi as expected Samuel Umtiti is also missing through injury. Enrique is likely to start with Suarez and Neymar upfront Rafinha, Busquets, Iniesta and Rakitic to start in dynamic midfield roles. this is how I expect both teams to lineup on Wednesday night.
Match Predictions: Gladbach has been absolute superb at home winning 11 straight home games in all competitions while Barcelona has won 7 straight away games this season which setup a superb game. Luis Suarez has been the key for recent Barcelona success and the kind of form he is in at the moment hard to see Gladbach getting anything out of this game. I am going with a 3-1 win for Barcelona on Wednesday night.
