A season-long wait for a shot at the Premier League comes to an end this Tuesday. All that remains now for these two squads is to win this final game, and they can shift themselves to the top flight. But, only one of the two could get the ticket, and expect probably the fiercest of games this whole campaign.
After several near-misses throughout the years, Thomas Frank’s men have the opportunity to make it to the Premier League for the very first time, and we can only imagine how loyal supporters would be spending the night.
Meanwhile for the Cottagers, this is a chance for redemption. After being relegated from the top tier last year, they have now crawled themselves back into contention.
Suffice it to say, this is the most important game for both teams in several years, and expect them to play it as such. Moreover, judging the offensive potential on both sides, and the sheer pressure these two are under, expect goals from both teams.
Brentford vs Fulham: Head-to-head (h2h)
The Bees had won the last two matches in a row.
They had kept clean sheets on both occasions.
It’s been four years since they have lost against this opponent.
Six of the former ten match-ups had goals from both teams.
Five of the preceding ten games had three or more goals.
Brentford vs Fulham: Prediction
Frank’s men were pitted against Swansea in the semis, and despite losing the first leg 0-1 on the road, they made a comeback with a 3-1 win at home in the second leg.
Meanwhile, Scott Parker’s men recorded a 0-2 win on the road in the first leg against Cardiff, and followed it up with a 1-2 loss at home – thus effectively winning the tie with an aggregate scorecard of 3-2.
As things stand, either team will give their very best on the pitch, as this is the final game before their entry into the best league in Europe. Goal-scoring has been particularly the strongest trait of both these teams throughout their campaign, and expect them to count on that this Tuesday as well.
In fact, the Bees had scored the most number of goals of all the 24 teams in the Championship, and had won ten of their last thirteen games as well. On the other hand, while the Cottagers took some time to get into full swing, they were at their absolute best towards the end of the season.
To quote a stat, they remained unbeaten in their last 15 overall fixtures, disregarding teams that had qualified for the playoffs. Moreover, they do have the experience in playing in the Premier League recently, as they were relegated just the last summer.
Moreover, nerves are at an all-time high for both sets of players, and they both would be desperately trying to win this match at any cost. At one point or another, both teams are going to find the back of the net.
