Sunday's early Championship sees Leeds travel to the Cardiff City Stadium with the hope of continuing their great form before the enforced break of the league season.
League leaders Leeds United make their return to Championship football with a trip to the Welsh capital to face playoff hopefuls Cardiff City.
With both the title and playoff races close as ever and just nine games left to play for each team, every point counts, with the long layoff potentially throwing the form book out the window.
Cardiff will certainly be hoping that is the case, with skipper Sean Morrison telling BBC Sport that his side have “not been consistent enough” this season.
Morrison added: "The boys have come back in great shape since we've been off which shows how dedicated we are to this and how much we want to hit the ground running.
"For Cardiff City to get back to the Premier League is our goal. Hopefully, all the work we have done at home and at the training ground can put us in good stead to make that leap forward towards the play-offs.”
For Leeds, the goal is clear, to try and recover the momentum they had before the break, winning all of their last five games before the league was suspended, giving them pole position heading into the final nine fixtures.
Last time out
Marcelo Bielsa’s side endured a terrible run from the middle of December and February, in which Leeds won just two of their 12 fixtures during that time.
Their plight all started, of course, with that dramatic comeback by the Bluebirds at Elland Road that ended 3-3, with Cardiff 3-0 down with an hour gone.
The Whites will be hoping their opponents don’t trigger another poor run of form with automatic promotion by no means secured for Bielsa’s side.
Team news
The big injury news that came out of the Leeds camp was that talismanic midfielder Pablo Hernandez would not be available for the game after picking up a knock in training.
Neither Adam Forshaw nor Jean Kevin-Augustin will be ready in time for the game either according to The Athletic’s Leeds correspondent Phil Hay.
Kalvin Phillips missed Leeds' last match back in March with a knock but is now fit again. Kiko Casilla remains suspended for the next six matches, after receiving an eight-game ban from the FA back in March for racially abusing Charlton forward Jonathan Leko.
Cardiff have Lee Tomlin, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Jazz Richards, Greg Cunningham and Isaac Vassell available again.
Predicted Lineups
Cardiff City (4-2-3-1): Smithies; Sanderson, Morrison, Nelson, Bennett; Vaulks, Bacuna; Adomah, Tomlin, Mendez-Laing; Paterson.
Leeds United (4-2-3-1): Meslier; Ayling, Cooper, White, Dallas; Phillips, Klich; Costa, Roberts, Harrison; Bamford.
