The Eagles welcomes Augsburg hopeful of maintaining their good run and continuing their flight toward top half in Friday’s Bundesliga skirmish.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Augsburg: Match Preview
Eintracht Frankfurt have beaten RB Leipzig for the second time this year as an André Silva penalty and Filip Kostic brace earned them a 3-1 win and a place in the quarter-final of DFB Cup.
That was third victory in the New Year for the Eagles and one helluva present for their fans following disappointing draw at Dusseldorf last week which kept Frankfurt at 11th step of Bundesliga ladder and very far from desired continental football…
Despite their faults, Adi Hutter’s men usually do well at Commerzbank-Arena with eighteen points collected from ten games; their poor, three-game winless run is a thing of the past as Eintracht got the better of RB Leipzig, ending their bad streak and inviting Bayern back in the title race during the last days of January.
Ruben Vargas and Florian Niederechner lead Fuggerstadter to a fantastic comeback victory as Augsburg pulled into top half with 2-1 win over wobbly Werder Bremen.
It was seventh win of the season for Martin Schmidt and his men, first one following a disastrous three-game losing run but ultimately it was enough for Fuggerstädter to crawl up to 10th and mid-table obscurity.
Augsburg have lost their last two games on the road which leaves bit of a sour taste in their fans’ mouths; context matters here, before these losses, they were unbeaten on excursions across Germany since October.
Gelson Fernandes, Nils Stendera, Lucas Torró, Marco Russ and Sebastian Rode won’t feature in Friday’s clash, but Bas Dost just might make it for Frankfurt.
Augsburg’s emergency room is filled top to bottom as Fabian Giefer, Tomas Koubek, Reece Oxford, Julian Schieber and Simon Asta are certainly out for Eintracht clash with Fredrik Jensen and Sergio Córdova still on the wire and Iago out on the international duty.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Augsburg: Prediction
Flight of the Eagles should continue, and they most probably will make the quick work of injury-ravaged Augsburg. Their mid-week cup match might cast some doubt, but this is a side that played two games per week for two seasons now and had couple of their first teamers rested on Tuesday.
Confidence is high, they’re playing well and that should be enough to get the better of Fuggerstadter.
Goals are almost a certainty where these two are considered, with their last couple encounters ending up in goals galore. Audience at Commerzbank-Arena has seen their fair share of goals this season, with Eintracht failing past this mark on just three occasions but their history with Augsburg promises (and hopefully will deliver) a fun showdown.
