Al Ahly failed to bag their first win in Group A of the CAF Champions League when they lost 1-0 to Kampala Capital City Authority at Mandela National Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The North Africans now sit at the bottom of their group with one point. They are up against Township Rollers next month at home.
For the hosts, it was Ibrahim Saddam’s second half goal that handed them the full three points.
The hosts were hoping to start the encounter on a high as they hoped to retain the full three points, but could not breakdown Ahly’s defence in the first 10 minutes.
Walid Soliman would later find the back of the net for the visiting Egyptian side, but it was disallowed in the 24th minute.
Chances were few and far between in the encounter and both sides headed to the tunnel tied at 0-0.
Following their emergence for the second half, the hosts intensified their search for a goal and their efforts were rewarded.
Saddam found the back of the net in the 74th minute to put the hosts ahead of the Red Devils.
Although coach Hossam El-Badry’s side probed for an equaliser, they were not clinical upfront.
This massive win for KCCA sees Mike Mutebi's troops moving to number two with three points in the group. They will now meet Esperance in their third match in July.
