Caen vs Dijon
French Ligue 1
Date: Friday, 2nd December 2016
Kick off at 19:45 UK Time
Venue: Stade Malherbe, Caen.
Caen scored two goals away from home in midweek but it meant little as they went down 4-2 to Lille in a bottom half of the league clash. That defeat has left the home side without a win since November 6th.
Dijon were highly impressive in getting a 1-1 draw against a Monaco side who were scoring for fun before their trip to Dijon. The 5-4-1 deployed meant to be defensive, but that Dijon had 11 goal attempts and had more possession over Monaco which was the real surprise.
On the road, Dijon have the third worst record in Ligue 1 and are yet to win a game. Caen has been fairly strong at home with 4 wins from 7 games and two losses.
Caen vs Dijon: Head to Head Stats
The last time the two teams played at Caen was in the Coupe de France where Dijon won 3-2 after extra time. But apart from that Caen has an excellent record of not losing to Dijon here. Both teams have found the net on the last four meetings and there is a record of us witnessing a few goals, although some games have inevitably ended with a 1-0 score line for the winner.
Caen vs Dijon: Prediction
Both clubs have shown signs that they can finish higher in the table than form suggests. The simple rule here is that Caen are the stronger team at home in this fixture. Whilst Dijon have claimed 4 points from their two matches against Lyon and Monaco this feat was achieved at home. Playing Caen here will be a difficult match for Dijon, and the expected result is a home victory.
