Milan-Juve, parte 1. Quella in cui i bianconeri dominano a San Siro, sono in vantaggio di due reti e si sentono la partita in tasca. Al termine di un'azione rossonera, il portiere della Juve, Wojciech Szczesny, infastidito da qualcosa, si rivolge a Rebic con parole non esattamente gentili. "Perdi 2-0 e fai il fenomeno", dice il polacco. Roba da campo, nulla di scandaloso e niente che non sia più che ricorrente in qualsiasi partita. Il problema è che poi, parte 2, dal 2-0 per la Juve si passa al 4-2 per il Milan e a firmare il gol del poker è proprio Ante Rebic. Esultanza portandosi le mani alle orecchie e... rivincita servita.

Europa League - I sorteggi

Dopo i sorteggi della Champions, ci sono stati anche quelli di Europa League in vista della Final Eight del 21 agosto a Colonia.

L'urna non ha penalizzato le due squadre italiane ancora nel torneo ovvero Roma ed Inter: i neroazzurri, dopo l’eventuale passaggio del turno con il Getafe, se la vedranno con una tra Bayer Leverkusen e Rangers Glasgow. La squadra di Fonseca se supererà gli ottavi di Europa League contro il Siviglia, troverà di fronte la vincente di Wolves-Olympiacos e se la Roma andrà avanti ecco che in semifinale, con ogni probabilità, incontrerà il Manchester United.

Watford vs Newcastle United preview: Hornets look to build on vital victory

Four games and a maximum of 12 points remain to be played for. What will be the tally necessary in order to ensure Premier League status for another season? Only time will tell.

Crucial match for Watford, who will be looking to extend that three-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone — an impressive position to be in given their early season form, including a 12 match wait for their first league win of 2019/20. Survival looks much more likely with Nigel Pearson than it did under his predecessors.

Victory against bottom-of-the-table Norwich City last time out was a must, and it was duly obtained, thanks in no small part to a spectacular overhead kick from Danny Welbeck, his first league goal in Hertfordshire. With AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa hoping to steal their place in 17th, the Hornets simply have to build on that result here.

Newcastle United are easily clear of the relegation dogfight, and that's a real credit to the undervalued work of manager Steve Bruce. As it’s transpired, it’s actually been a fairly fruitful campaign on Tyneside, which could bode well for the future.

In their last assignment, the Magpies were simply outclassed by a rampant Manchester City side, losing 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium. Regardless, they’ll view three points at Vicarage Road as genuinely attainable, especially being unbeaten against the current bottom four sides since November.

Previous meetings

The most recent encounter was a 1-1 draw at St James’s Park in August — Watford had lost all three of their opening games, but got off to a perfect start through Will Hughes before Fabian Schär equalised to see the spoils shared.

Newcastle have not won in any of their five Premier League visits to Vicarage Road, losing two of them.

Furthermore, the Magpies have won just one of their last eight meetings with the Hornets.

Watford have no fresh injury concerns.

Their long-term absentees remain Gerard Deulofeu, Daryl Janmaat and Isaac Success.

For Newcastle, skipper Jamaal Lascelles could return, but Emil Krafth is unlikely to feature.

Liverpool have continued their positive momentum since the restart. They have won three matches while drawing against local rivals Everton. The only blemish on the notepad was a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City. Their recent 3-1 win against Brighton and Hove Albion was a much more convincing performance from Jurgen Klopp's men. 

Burnley have well and truly bounced back from their own nightmare at the Etihad. They're unbeaten in four and have three clean sheets. A recent 1-0 victory over struggling West Ham United put to bed some slight frustrations from letting the lead against Sheffield United slip away. 

In the reverse fixture, the Champions steamrolled the Clarets 3-0 with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino adding to an own-goal from Chris Wood. 

Burnley remain in contention for a European spot but face competition from the likes of Sheffield United, Tottenham Hostpur and Arsenal. Liverpool's motivation is to break points records and for some of their superstar individuals pick up some additional awards of their own. Eyes will be on the Golden Boot and the Golden Glove, making for some intriguing battles on the field. 

Key Battles

Alisson v Nick Pope

A more personal rivalry than anything else, the two keepers are neck-and-neck in the battle for the Golden Glove. Pope has 14 clean sheets to his name with Alisson one behind on 13. The Brazilian stopper has missed nine matches due to injury or suspension so it is impressive to think that he could still finish the season with more clean sheets than anybody else. Pope, though, will be desperate to retain his place at the top of the tree.

Mo Salah v Kevin Long

The Liverpool winger is chasing the Golden Boot and he will be wanting to boost his chances in this match. Salah was excellent in the win against Brighton and Hove Albion, taking up very central positions on the pitch. Long, back in the fold after the injury to Ben Mee, will have to be alert to cut-out any inside runs from the Egyptians. 

Naby Keita v Josh Brownhill

The big-money buy from RB Leipzig has been putting together some steady performances since the restart. Keita is a workmanlike midfielder with little bursts of quality that could help sparkle a bit of magic in the middle of the park. Lisewise, Brownhill is a player who is not afraid to pick a pass or make a surging run. He is a much more dynamic midfielder than the deep-sitting Jack Cork.
 

Team News 

Liverpool are without Jordan Henderson for the rest of the season after. Joel Matip is out and Dejan Lovren remains a doubt but there are no more injury concerns for the Merseyside outfit. Still, one would expect a few changes from the match against Brighton. Klopp may want to offer a second opportunity to young Neco Williams.

The youngster started at left-back in the midweek game at the Amex but was withdrawn at half-time as he had a caution. He may get an opportunity at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold due a rest. 

Burnley have a depleted squad but they are managing to grind out some good results. The collective attitude of the squad is currently doing the business.

Ben Mee, Jack Cork, Matt Lowton and Ashley Barnes will all be absent. Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Robbie Brady and Chris Wood are all fit but may have to wait their turn as a result of the team's winning mentality.

Sheffield United vs Chelsea Preview: Blades and Blues brawl in barbarous battle for European football

Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United look to end 27-year-win drought as they welcome Frank Lampard’s Chelsea to Bramall Lane amidst a fierce scramble for Champions League qualification.

52 years ago, Frank Lampard Senior played his first ever game against the Blades, in East London, for West Ham. Just months later, Lampard’s father returned to the midlands before winning 2-1 in front of nearly 20,000 people.

The Blades continue to closely monitor David McGoldrick and John Fleck having both been absent from Wilder’s victory over Wolves in the week.

Oli McBurnie played just 49 minutes on Wednesday – an element of doubt is looming in regard to who will lead Wilder’s line.

Fikayo Tomori remains close to full fitness but will not be involved. N’Golo Kante is out with a hamstring strain.

Meanwhile, Lampard has confirmed Billy Gilmour with be out for as long as four months with a knee injury requiring surgery.

¿Una tercera final contra el eterno rival?

Tal y como se ha dado el sorteo, puede darse la circunstancia de que el equipo colchonero vuelva a disputarse el máximo trofeo continental contra su bestia negra en Champions, el eterno rival, el Real Madrid. Si bien es cierto que el equipo blanco aún tiene que voltear el resultado adverso para dejar atrás al City y colarse en cuartos, de lograrlo podría repetirse por tercera vez en 7 años una final madrileña. El equipo pucelano, que llega a este partido después de haber quedado noqueado a manos del Valencia Club de Fútbol en la última jornada liguera, intentará aprovechar la ventaja que les dará el factor campo para hacer de Zorrilla un fortín y certificar, de manera matemática, su permanencia en la máxima categoría para la próxima temporada.

Con 39 puntos, 8 victorias, 15 empates y 12 derrotas, los vallisoletanos se encuentran a un paso de consolidar aquello por lo que llevan peleando desde hace ya varios partidos. Por perseverancia no será y la de este sábado será una de las oportunidades definitivas que tienen en este tramo final para hacer de su principal objetivo, toda una realidad.

Respecto al último partido disputado, hay que decir que resultó un tanto engañoso en cuanto a juego. El Real Valladolid Club de Fútbol, que visitó Mestalla, jugó para ganar ante el Valencia Club de Fútbol, pero acabó perdiendo. Una acción suelta del equipo dirigido por Salvador González "Voro", castigó con excesiva dureza a los blanquivioletas, que fueron mejores que su rival en la segunda parte.

El que se vivió el pasado martes en Valencia fue un partido en el que el conjunto pucelano pudo empatar después del gol conseguido por el canterano, Víctor García, en el minuto 46, que igualaba el que Maxi Gómez había firmado en la primera parte e incluso pudo ganar porque tuvo tres oportunidades clarísimas en la recta final del choque. Finalmente, perdiendo después de no haberlas sabido aprovechar y de que la calidad de Kang-in Lee le permitiera poner el balón junto a la base del poste izquierdo de la portería de Jordi Masip para hacer el definitivo 2-1. El equipo blanquivioleta continúa con los 39 puntos que virtualmente le dan la permanencia y también depende de lo que el Real Club Deportivo Mallorca haga ante el Levante Unión Deportiva este jueves, puesto que si los baleares no ganan, ya estarían salvados.

El Fútbol Club Barcelona, esperanzado de cara al tramo final

Pelear hasta el final. Esa es la premisa ante la que se mantendrá fiel el equipo de Quique Setién en este tramo final. A falta de tres partidos para cerrar la temporada liguera, los azulgranas todavía mantienen la esperanza de poder revalidar el título de vigentes campeones y hacerlo arrebatándoselo al Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, que, actualmente, ostenta el liderato. Por eso, la del José Zorrilla será otra oportunidad para que se reafirmen en sus pretensiones y no deberán fallar.

A su favor, el elenco azulgrana tiene que parece haber recuperado las buenas sensaciones después de haber ganado ante el Villarreal Club de Fútbol y el Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol de Barcelona en las dos últimas jornadas. Estas dos victorias le han dado la moral suficiente para seguir peleando por el título liguero. Con 76 puntos, 23 victorias, 7 empates y 5 derrotas, el Fútbol Club Barcelona tiene en sus manos poder darle la vuelta a la situación que están viviendo y que, por ahora, les aleja a cuatro puntos de su máximo rival en la lucha.

Respecto al último partido disputado, hay que decir que resultó un tanto engañoso. El Fútbol Club Barcelona, que recibió en el Camp Nou al Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol de Barcelona, ya descendido de forma oficial a la categoría de plata, se llevó una victoria por la mínima gracias a un gol de Luis Suárez, pero no terminó de protagonizar uno de sus mejores partidos. De hecho, sembró más incertidumbre al no poder hacer gol en la primera mitad y volvió a generar dudas sin apenas contundencia en el juego.

Un partido especial para Jordi Masip, Matheus Fernandes y Sandro Ramírez

El de este sábado será, sin lugar a dudas, un partido especial para jugadores como Jordi Masip y Sandro Ramírez. También lo sería para Matheus Fernandes si no estuviera lesionado.

En el caso del cancerbero catalán, hay que destacar que, recientemente, ha alcanzado la cifra de treinta veces con la portería a cero. Lo hizo ante el Levante Unión Deportiva en la jornada 33 del campeonato, cuando los de Sergio González firmaron un reparto de puntos ante los de Paco López en su estadio. No encajar siempre es vital para un equipo, ya que, al menos, asegura un punto en ese partido y una de las claves del "éxito" del conjunto blanquivioleta ha sido el trabajo que Jordi Masip ha hecho en la presente temporada. De hecho, sus cerrojos le han dado al Real Valladolid Club de Fútbol esta temporada nueve puntos, la mayoría obtenidos con empates sin goles o con victorias por la mínima.

Respecto a Sandro Ramírez, buen conocedor de la táctica del Fútbol Club Barcelona, ya que vistió su camiseta desde el 2014 hasta el 2016, hay que decir que terminará la temporada vistiendo la blanquivioleta, ya que así lo han acordado Everton Football Club y Real Valladolid Club de Fútbol. Por eso, podrá mejorar sus credenciales como jugador pucelano, después de haber marcado tres goles en poco más de 1.000 minutos en la competición doméstica.

Sin embargo, en el caso de Matheus Fernandes, jugador brasileño cedido al conjunto pucelano por el Fútbol Club Barcelona, lo hubiera sido si no hubiese caído lesionado ante el Club Atlético de Madrid. De no haber sido así, seguro que habría disfrutado de algunos minutos ante el conjunto azulgrana, en el que espera militar la próxima temporada.

Una victoria contundente, el antecedente más reciente

Si hablamos del último partido que disputaron ambos equipos, nos tenemos que remontar al que se jugó en la primera vuelta de la competición durante la presente temporada. En la jornada 11, el Fútbol Club Barcelona, por aquel entonces entrenado por Ernesto Valverde, recibía al Valladolid Club de Fútbol de Sergio González en el Camp Nou y sumaba otros tres puntos más que vitales para seguir ostentando el liderato en la máxima categoría del fútbol español.

En ese partido, los azulgranas firmaron un 5-1 gracias a los tantos marcados por Arturo Vidal, Clément Lenglet, Leo Messi y Luis Suárez, que eclipsaron por completo el gol marcado por el conjunto rival, firmado por Kiko Olivas. En el choque, los aficionados azulgranas pudieron ser testigos de otro recital del delantero argentino, Leo Messi.

Los encargados de dictar la sentencia definitiva

El encargado de dictar la sentencia definitiva sobre el césped del Estadio José Zorrilla será Antonio Mateu Lahoz. Este árbitro, perteneciente a la máxima categoría del fútbol español y al Comité de Árbitros de la Comunidad Valenciana, consiguió el ascenso a la Primera División en la temporada 2007/08 y debutó el 13 de septiembre de 2008, en el partido en el que se enfrentaron el Sevilla Fútbol Club y el Real Sporting de Gijón. Además, es árbitro FIFA desde el 1 de enero de 2011.

El encargado de estar al frente del VAR será Juan Martínez Munuera, del Comité de Árbitros de la Comunidad Valenciana.

La convocatoria azulgrana

Después de dirigir la última sesión preparatoria sobre el césped del Tito Vilanova de la Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, previa a afrontar el viaje hasta Valladolid, el técnico del Fútbol Club Barcelona, Quique Setién, ha dado a conocer la convocatoria para hacer frente al conjunto liderado por Sergio González. Marc-André ter Stegen, Nélson Semedo, Gerard Piqué, Ivan Rakitić, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárez, Leo Messi, Norberto Murara, Clément Lenglet, Antoine Griezmann, Jordi Alba, Martin Braithwaite, Sergi Roberto, Arturo Vidal, Junior Firpo, Riqui Puig, Ronald Araújo y Arnau Tenas integran la lista azulgrana para viajar a Castellón, de la que se caen Arthur Melo, Ousmane Dembélé, Frenkie de Jong y Samuel Umtiti por lesión y Ansu Fati por sanción.
