Their former manager, Jose Mourinho, who was sacked mid-season last campaign, returns to the Old Trafford, as the anchor of another major English club. If form is any indication, the revitalized Tottenham should have the upper hand against the struggling United this Wednesday, in spite of their away handicap.

The Red Devils could not even secure a win at home against the newly-promoted Aston Villa the last match-day. Against the former Championship outfit, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men had a lead of 2-1 in the second half, and could not prevent them from firing in the equalizer.

Meanwhile, under new gaffer Mourinho, Spurs have been thriving. At home the previous game week, they recorded a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth to keep the winning streak alive for the Portuguese manager.

This Wednesday several factors are at play. Tottenham could no longer be judged upon their performances that had come under the now-fired Mauricio Pochettino. The ‘Special One’ has instilled confidence and winning spirit into the 2018-19 Champions League finalists, and consequentially, their fear-factor is on the rise.

In addition, they may be on the road, but consider the fact that Mourinho was the manager of this United squad last season, and is familiar of each and every player that would don a red shirt this match-day. He knows their weaknesses, and how to take advantage of it. And importantly, due to the manner, he was sacked, the two-time CL winner has serious enough reason to embarrass the Red Devils.

On top of that, Manchester United are struggling under their inexperienced coach Solskjaer. They are unbeaten in their last three match-ups and have conceded twice or more in each of these three. Importantly, these last three games were against two newly-promoted Championship clubs, and lowly FC Astana, from the Kazakhstan Premier League.

If they could not secure a victory against these minnows, the Devils really do not stand a chance against Jose Mourinho, who’s out for revenge, and his boys who are hungry again.

As such, expect a fearsome clash this Wednesday, at the end of which the visitors, Tottenham, would have the better result.
