West Bromwich Albion manager Slaven Bilic has insisted that his previous visits to the Hawthorns during his time in charge of West Ham United played a role in his decision to move to the West Midlands-based outfit in July.
Since being handed over the reins, the Croatian has guided the Baggies to the top of the Championship standings following an impressive start to the 2019/20 campaign.
Having failed to lose any of their first nine league games under Bilic, West Brom suffered a minor setback at the hands of Leeds United in October as Marcelo Bielsa’s side secured a 1-0 victory at Elland Road.
Since this particular clash, the Baggies have been in imperious form in the second-tier as they have picked up 23 points from a possible 27 on offer.
Given that they have won their last five league games, West Brom will unquestionably be confident of securing a positive result against Swansea City this weekend.
Speaking to Sky Sports’ YouTube channel (as cited by the Express & Star) about his summer switch, Bilic said: “I liked it here when I came with West Ham.
“I remembered the stadium.
“I knew it was an old-fashioned club but in a good way, it’s a family club and I like those values.
“They (the board) called me and we made a deal in a couple of hours.
“I didn’t know it was going to be like this but I had a good feeling.
“I like our training ground, I like that is smells of grass.
“It’s not a five-star hotel, but it is clean and you have everything you want.
“It (the club) is exactly how I imagined it and exactly how I wanted it to be.”
