Barcelona’s loanee Philippe Coutinho has publicly stated his desire to remain with the Bavarian side, Bayern Munich, once his loan spell ends in summer 2020.
Coutinho has firmly stated that his current priorities lie with Bayern Munich’s endeavors and the Brazilian is not thinking about a return to Spain. In fact, he would prefer to stay with his current employers.
“I’m very comfortable. I plan to stay here for the year and I’m focused on my time here. If everything fits, then I’d love to stay.” Coutinho told Daily Mail
The 27-year-old left Barcelona last summer on a loan after struggling to integrate with Barcelona’s system. At Barca, the Brazilian managed to score 21 goals along with providing another 11 assists in 76 appearances.
Since moving to Germany, the former Liverpool player has regained his lost form, starting in 12 of his 18 appearances for the Bavarian side. The Barca Loanee has managed to score 3 goals and provided 5 assists in 18 appearances for Bayern.
Bayern Munich have the option to permanently have the star player for a fee of 120 million euros in the summer transfer window of 2020. However, the Brazilian’s future may depend on the future of the club itself as they are actively looking for a permanent coach. Hanski Flick is currently in charge at the Allianz Arena since the sacking of Niko Kovac in November.
The Brazilian international is happy with his new boss,
“We understand his way of training and playing well, things are going well because of that. Flick makes everyone feel important and we’re happy, but we know there’s a lot of work to do.” he explained
The Bavarian club will have to break their transfer record of 80 million euros for Lucas Hernandez in order to sign Coutinho from Barcelona. Only time will tell where Coutinho’s future lies.
