Brazil right-back Danilo says he is delighted to be part of the Seleção setup and just wants to help, as he looks set to fill in for injured right-back Dani Alves at this summer’s World Cup.
The Manchester City man played the full 90 minutes, as Brazil beat Croatia 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday with goals from Neymar and Roberto Firmino.
Danilo and Fágner of Corinthians will fight it out for the chance to deputise for Alves at this summer’s tournament, but Danilo seems to have edged into contention.
“I am very satisfied with my first game. It was important not to concede a goal and to have safety in behind and allow the front players to make the difference. We are on a good path.
“This was the most important thing. I'm here to help the team. I'm here for when Tite needs me to do my best for the team.
“It was just a preparation game, but we played against a very good opponent. There were big players on the other side. We have to remain solid and confident, because the World Cup is nearly here.”
