Arsenal v Manchester United
It is far from the fixture it once was, but there is no doubt that this latest Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester United is absolutely crucial to both sides.
It looks like a straight four-way battle for the final two spots in the top four of the Premier League between Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Both Manchester City and Liverpool have the edge in terms of points and they both play before Sunday’s Premier League fixture.
Can Arsenal or Manchester United bag a place in the top four?
Arsenal and Manchester United have games in hand. Whilst the Red Devils can also fall back on the Europa League to find a way into the Champions League next season.
Before kick off, Arsenal trail Manchester United by five points and have an inferior goal difference, but do have one game in hand.
If the Gunners are to bag what looks an unlikely spot in the top four, they simply have to win this match.
Arsenal team news v Manchester United
The Gunners have a few injury doubts going into this game, with both Granit Xhaka and Lucas Perez ruled out.
It will be intriguing to see whether Arsenal play three at the back again, after losing at Spurs last weekend.
In addition, many Arsenal fans hope Rob Holding will bag a recall after impressing against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final.
Manchester United team news v Arsenal
After the Celta Vigo match, Jose Mourinho pretty much confirmed his plans for Arsenal.
Mourinho said: “It’s what I have to do. The players that are in accumulation, the players that have lots of minutes, because we played nine matches in April and this one, so 10 matches in four and a half weeks, the players in accumulation, they are not going to play next weekend.”
As a result, we can pretty much rule out the likes of Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan from playing at Arsenal.
We have included Pogba and Herrera below as Mourinho simply seems to have no midfield options available.
United’s injury list was already pretty massive and includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luke Shaw, Timothy Fosu Mensah and Marcos Rojo.
Marouane Fellaini is suspended for this match.
