Though they have only scored 3 goals so far they have also only conceded once and could have a mean defence, but of course it is too early to tell.

Nantes come into this game on Sunday in 13th place they lost their last game which ended 2-1 to Monaco. So far they have only played one home game this season which ended in victory when they beat Nimes 2-1, but the club have not really been tested at home so far, that is about to change this weekend.

For now Nantes look like they might perform pretty much how they did last season, a team who win the odd game, but give no threat to the top teams, sadly this will not be good for the club who don’t look like they have been able to progress much in the summer. Still it is early days and if they were to win this game the headlines would change about them.

Saint Etienne are, for now, the best team in Ligue 1. They have won their opening 3 games in a row and have 9 points and are six points clear of the champions PSG. They have also scored six goals and have not conceded a goal. It has been the perfect start for the Verts!

They have really impressed too, by going to the Stade Velodrome and beating Marseille 2-0 and the club have really made a statement. Indeed every match they have played so far has ended in the correct score of 2-0.

The bottom two clubs of Ligue 1 will meet on Sunday, and for that this should be an interesting game to watch. Who will be able to come off better?

Both sides have lost their opening 3 games in a row and both have conceded 7 goals already, continue this and they would have conceded almost 80 goals this season, so they will need to get their act together.

Strasbourg will be slight favourites simply having the home advantage but the club will point to the fact that they have only played one game at home so far. Their last match ended in a 2-0 defeat away to Saint Etienne.

Dijon have only played away once this season which was a crushing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Lyon, although they were in fact leading that game. Their last match was a 2-0 defeat at home against Brest.

Montpellier have already proven that they will be very difficult to beat at home with 2 wins here already and against quality teams in the shape of Nice and Lyon. They were beaten 3-1 and 2-1 respectively and the club have made a real statement at the beginning of the season, even if they do not travel so well. Of course that will not matter as they have the luck to play their 3rd game at home in a row when they take on Angers.

Montpellier are currently in 5th place and they could jump into the top 3 with a win depending on other results around them and they will be the favourites to win this game.

Angers have done well, winning 2 of their 3 games so far. They look like a team though that may face some inconsistency problems, for example beating Reims at home but losing to Bordeaux at the same stadium, but they are plugging away and won’t be an easy team to play against. They come into this match in 9th place with the same points as Montpellier.

Both clubs need the points when they meet up on Sunday afternoon. Metz are 18th and Reims are 17th and they have 1 point between them.

As for the home side they have lost all 3 of their opening games. Their excuse though is that they have had a very difficult start having to already face PSG, Lille and Monaco, those teams could finish in the top 3 this season.

The good news if we are looking for some is that even though Metz have lost all their games so far and have not scored a goal, they have only conceded 3 goals, one in each game, that tells us that their defence has been worked on hard this summer and is well drilled.

Reims have started poorly with just one draw and two defeats. They lost at home to Lille and then followed that up with a 1-0 defeat at Angers. The problem could be that the club are trying to qualify for Europe for the first time in 60 years. They are involved in the Europa League qualification where in midweek they beat Swiss side Servette 1-0 away, the return leg is next week and they might not be very focused on this game either.

These two teams could be considered (along with Manchester City) to be the title favorites this season.

The Reds for obvious reasons – they have been the best team in England, and maybe in Europe along with Bayern Munich, for the past two years. They are coached by the inspirational Jurgen Klopp, who has vowed to defend their title.

They also have probably the best attacking trio in the whole of Europe in – Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane.

Meanwhile, after their ban came to an end, the Blues simply set the current transfer window on fire. They have made countless purchases this off-season, and widespread consensus is that they have compensated more than enough for the departure of the aging Eden Hazard.

Suffice it to say that we are in line for a treat of attacking football this Sunday. Moreover, recent h2h clashes have all had plenty of goals between them.

By all means, expect a high-scoring thriller this weekend.
