New Bray Wanderers owner Niall O'Driscoll has promised to do everything in his power to make the Seagulls a force again, with one caveat: "The journey must be fun because life is too short".
O'Driscoll was announced as the majority shareholder in the club during the week, with his arrival offering Bray fans hope after a rough year.
O'Driscoll, chairman of Bray's schoolboy partner club St Joseph's Boys, wants to put those dark days firmly behind Bray, guaranteeing wages and looking to build for the future.
"I made a commitment as everyone knows," he told RTÉ Sport's John Kenny.
"I've got involved, madly or not! Football is what I do and enjoy the life.
"We're here for the long haul, we're here to build a football club and part of that commitment is players need to be paid. Those commitments have to be made, no different than the ESB bills and mortgages we have at home.

"I've taken over 51% of the shareholding. Other shareholders remain.
"As long as I'm here kids won't pay into Bray Wanderers to watch them play because I believe that's how you build football long term.
"I was delighted with the response [for the game against Cork]. The number of kids... let's have children here, get them used to coming, dragging the parents along. And maybe three or four of them will be on that pitch in five years' time. That's success.
"We're rebuilding no matter what happens. You put in the foundations, you put in the structure, you get everyone involved and you see where the journey takes you. But the journey must be fun because life is too short."
O'Driscoll is a partner in the insurance firm O’Driscoll O’Neill, which covers football clubs all around the country.
He said his motivation to get involved with Bray is "to give something back" after a lifetime in the game.
"Football has given me an awful lot of good stuff in my life. It's only fair I give something back. I've been involved in schoolboy football for nearly 40 years.
"As a result of that I've enjoyed and had benefits from the friends I've made and the lifestyle I've had. If you can't give it back, then why not?
"Whatever decision I believe are right for Bray wanderers I will make. That's the best I can do."

O empate por 1 a 1 diante do Grêmio não era exatamente o que a Chapecoense queria, mas o resultado foi suficiente para tirar o time da zona de rebaixamento do Campeonato Brasileiro nesta 16ª rodada. O duelo foi realizado na Arena Condá, para mais de 14 mil torcedores, recorde do time catarinense na competição.
A Chapecoense, que não vence há cinco jogos, conheceu o seu oitavo empate em 16 partidas realizadas. Na tabela de classificação, tem 17 pontos, contra 16 de Santos e Bahia, este, na zona de rebaixamento, ainda joga na rodada. O Grêmio, por sua vez, soma 27, mas ainda pode ser ultrapassado pelo Atlético-MG, com 26.
Antes da bola rolar, uma confusão chamou a atenção na Arena Condá, mas acabou rapidamente dispersa pela Polícia Militar. Duas pessoas acabaram presas, mas ninguém ficou ferido.
O Grêmio apostou num time alternativo para a partida, visando preservar seus principais jogadores para duelos decisivos na Copa do Brasil e Libertadores, contra Flamengo e Estudiantes, da Argentina, respectivamente.
Já a Chapecoense cortou dois jogadores de última hora. Canteros e Guilherme sequer foram relacionados. O clube afirmou que foi uma opção técnica de Gilson Kleina, mas nos bastidores falam-se em falta de comprometimento dos atletas. O time catarinense enfrenta o Corinthians no meio de semana.
SUSTO! Mesmo com um time reserva, o Grêmio começou pressionando a Chapecoense e abriu o placar logo aos dois minutos. Pepê arrancou em velocidade, tabelou com Hernane e chutou para o fundo das redes. Ele ainda contou com um desvio na defesa para superar o goleiro Jandrei.

Após o gol, a Chapecoense cresceu na partida e chegou a assustar com Osman e Wellington Paulista, mas foi o Grêmio que ficou mais perto de marcar. Aos 42 minutos, após cobrança de escanteio, a bola sobre para Thaciano. O meia exigiu grande defesa de Jandrei.
TUDO IGUAL! O segundo tempo começou mais devagar. Em vantagem, o Grêmio controlava o ritmo do jogo, até que a Chapecoense enfim resolveu aparecer. Aos 16 minutos, Osman chutou em cima de Wellington Paulista. A bola espirrou e sobrou para Bruno Silva, que dividiu com Paulo Victor. Elicarlos pegou o rebote e deixou tudo igual.
O gol animou a Chapecoense, que foi para cima em busca da virada. Bruno Silva fez boa jogada pela direita e cruzou para Rolim. O meia mandou pela linha de fundo. Apesar do empate, o Grêmio se mostrava satisfeito com o resultado e recuou para tentar encaixar um contra-ataque.
A Chapecoense foi para o abafa nos minutos finais, mas só não conquistou a vitória, pois Paulo Victor fez um milagre na cabeça, à queima-roupa, de Amaral.
PRÓXIMOS JOGOS Na próxima rodada, o Grêmio encara o Flamengo no sábado, às 19h, na Arena do Grêmio, em Porto Alegre (RS). No domingo, às 19h, a Chapecoense visita o Sport na Ilha do Retiro, em Recife (PE).

HARRISON, N.J. — Columbus Crew SC put their road doldrums behind them in a big way, scoring three times in the first half en route to a 3-2 victory over the New York Red BullsSaturday night at Red Bull Arena.
Jonathan Mensah gave Crew SC (10-7-6) an early lead and snapped a 372-minute road shutout streak with a tap-in after Patrick Mullins latched onto a Pedro Santos free kick and headed back in front of goal.
Mullins doubled the advantage in the 24th minute, racing onto a ball played into space by Harrison Afful before slotting low inside the far post for his first Crew SC goal.
Columbus made it 3-0 in the 31st minute when Sean Davis headed a Santos corner kick into his own goal at the near post.
Chris Armas made a double switch at halftime, bringing on Bradley Wright-Phillips and Kakuand the Red Bulls (13-6-2) rallied to cut their deficit to one on a Mensah own goal and Danny Royer’s sixth of the season.
THE BIG PICTURE: Without a goal in their last five road games (0-4-1), Crew SC exploded for three in the first half for their first road win since May 19 at New England. It was also the first time they scored three away goals since May 31, 2017. It was certainly a bad look for the Red Bulls secondary formation, with the high line of central defenders getting exploited big time in the opening 45 minutes.
MOMENT OF THE MATCH: Jonathan Mensah set the tone with his first goal of the second in the 7th minute.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Mullins, take a bow. In his first start, and second appearance, since arriving from D.C. United in a trade, Mullins scored his first goal since Sept. 27, which was also against the Red Bulls.
