The Old Lady are the nine-time running champions of the competition, and are going after a tenth straight title – which will surely be the crowning jewel of their rich and proud history.
However, they have to do much better this season. The likes of Atalanta, Inter Milan etc are dead-set on removing Andrea Pirlo’s men from the top, and the latter have been recruiting players aggressively lately.
Moreover, this is the first coaching year for the Italian legend. In a move which was widely criticized, team management anointed Pirlo as the gaffer with no prior experience. While he surely was a generational player, it’s to be seen if he can be the same influential figure on the sidelines.
It helps the Old Lady’s objectives that they are opening against La Samp, who had finished just two spots above the relegation cut-off.
Moreover, they are at home, and have a great h2h record against this rival. By all means, expect a Juventus win this weekend.

In fact, the Old Lady have been one of the best teams in the continent for the past several decades, and they have been the undisputed best in Italy this past decade.
They have also lost just twice at home in the past twelve-month period, and in the process, they had also gone through a seven-game winning run where they scored a total of 20 goals.
Meanwhile, their counterparts are on a four-fixture winless run (of which three were losses), and most importantly, they have a terribly inferior h2h record against this opponent over the years – and even more embarrassingly so at the Allianz Stadium.
As such, expect a dominating performance by Juventus in their opener this weekend.
