As expected Sevilla have topped Group A without breaking much of a sweat. And, although the clash this week is nothing more than a formality now for the hosts, count on the latter to give Qarabag a run for their money.

Sevilla cruised to their third consecutive win last week after the hosts took down Valladolid with a 1-0 scorecard. The home side are now unbeaten in their past seven games in all competitions and have dropped points just twice in the process as well.

Julen Lopetegui’s men have also made no mistake in exerting their dominance in Group A. They have already booked their ticket to the next round. That too, as group leaders with two games remaining.

On the other hand, Qarabag are on a far from impressive streak at the moment. The visitors have not registered a win in any of their previous four games. Their most recent clash on the road saw them at the losing end of a 2-1 scorecard against Sumqayit. Prior to that matchup, the squad managed no more than a 1-1 draw against Zira at home.

Nevertheless, owing to their fellow group members being more or less dismal, Qarabag are still in contention to make it through to the round of 32 along with Sevilla. Be that as it may, getting the better of the Spanish outfit is, by all means, a herculean task, and it was on full display when they last locked horns as well.

Given that home advantage is also up Sevilla’s sleeve this Thursday, the visitors have little or no reason to have their hopes up in this one.
