Leicester City 4-2 Manchester City: Jamie Vardy nets hat-trick as Foxes dominate - 5 things we learned

The England striker scored his first Premier League goals for three months as the Champions rediscovered their league form against Pep Guardiola's hapless side

Leicester rediscovered their Premier League-winning form with a ruthless display to add to Pep Guardiola's woes.
Claudio Ranieri's Foxes blitzed big-spending City by racing into a 3-0 lead within 20 minutes in a stunning start which belied their lowly league position.
Jamie Vardy struck twice, either side of Andy King's finish, as the visitors' tactics and defence were a shambles early on.
Vardy ended a 16-game drought for the Foxes with two fine right-foot finishes despite Manchester City dominating possession.
The England striker completed his hat-trick in the second half before an Aleksandr Kolarov free-kick and Nolito's tidy finish made it 4-2.
Here are five things we learned from the match...

1. Leicester end slump

The champions had only won one of their last nine league matches coming into the game and were without a win in five games but they ended their rut in spectacular fashion here as they turned back to the clock with a display from their pomp from last season. Vardy and Riyad Mahrez ran amok as the England striker spectacularly ended his drought for the Foxes.

2. City's away form up in smoke

Man City arrived with the best away record in the top flight having won six of their seven away games but their tactics were horribly exposed here as Guardiola's men pushed up and left themselves open to be exposed by Leicester's counter-attacking using the pace of Vardy and Mahrez, who both returned after being among 10 stars rested for the 5-0 embarrassment in Porto.

3. City's dodgy defence

City have now kept just two clean sheets all season in the Premier League and they were sliced open here at the King Power Stadium where they found themselves 3-0 down before they had settled into the game. Claudio Bravo in goal had a nightmare and Guardiola's decision to ditch Joe Hart for the Chilean, 33, looks increasingly ill-judged.

4. Leicester lucky to avoid penalty calls

The Foxes were worthy winners despite their lack of possession but Guardiola complained to the fourth official on more than one occasion that his side should have had a spot-kick for grappling in the area. Leicester's big centre-backs Wes Morgan and Robert Huth both were guilty of wrestling their men under high balls which is supposed to be penalised this term.

5. Iheanacho fluffs his chance

Kelechi Iheanacho has scored five goals in the last five Premier League matches that Sergio Aguero hasn't played but City missed their Argentine talisman at the King Power following his suspension for recklessly taking out David Luiz. Iheanacho was subbed early in the second half after blowing a chance when clean through.
