La Viola will be looking to snap their winless stretch in front of their own fans against last-placed Spalini this Sunday.
Fiorentina vs SPAL: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The two sides met four times in the past.
- Fiorentina have won two of their four meetings with Gli Spalini.
- La Viola smashed SPAL 4-1 (a) and 3-0 (h) last season.
- The guests are yet to score a goal at Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Fiorentina vs SPAL: Match Preview
15th-placed La Viola stretched their winless run to eight games following a 1-1 draw at Bologna on Beppe Iachini’s debut.
Formation-wise, nothing has changed, Fiorentina are still playing 3-5-2 formation with Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic up-front, although they are expected to bolster their attack with former AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone, now at Wolves.
Former Empoli and Palermo tactician wil be hoping to land his first win on a home debut this Sunday.
Fiorentina have recorded two wins, three draws and four defeats at Artemio Franchi, bagging 1.11 goals per bout and conceding 1.56 in return. They have lost three of their last five home fixtures (0-2-3).
Franck Ribery (11 games, 2 goals) is two months away from full fitness.
Gli Spalini failed to build on the win over Torino as they slumped to their fifth home defeat of the season vs tricky Hellas Verona side (0-2) and slipped to the bottom of the Serie A standings.
Leonardo Semplici’s side have earned just six points from last ten Serie A matches and they’re three points off of currently safe Lecce. Emilia-Romagna club will be hoping to upset the odds when they take a trip to Florence.
SPAL are one of the league’s worst travelers with one win, one draw and six losses to date, averaging dreadful goalscoring record of 0.44 goals per game, whilst conceding 1.67 per match.
D’Alessandro (4/0) and Reca (11/0) are on the sidelines for the guests; regular centre back Nenad Tomovic (16/0) is suspended.
Fiorentina vs SPAL: Predicted Starting Lineups
Fiorentina (3-5-2): Dragowski – Milenkovic, Pezzella, Caceres – Lirola, Benassi, Pulgar, Castrovilli, Dalbert – Chiesa, Vlahovic.
Spal (3-5-2): Berisha – Cionek, Vicari, Felipe – Sala, Valoti, Missiroli, Kurtic, Igor – Petagna, Di Francesco.
Fiorentina vs SPAL: Prediction
I’m going to have a leap of faith and back Fiorentina to snap their winless stretch in front of their own fans. Overall, they have more quality than SPAL and the boys will be eager to impress the new boss.
Since odds for a plain home win are rather low (good for combos, though), I’ll pick them in -1 Asian Handicap.
I will back Federico Chiesa to net anytime at juicy odds. The Italian International is playing in a more advanced role than ever before and taking more shots (3.7 per game) than anyone else in the team. Their crown jewel needs to start producing.
Fiorentina vs SPAL: Betting Tips
Fiorentina -1 Asian Handicap @1.84
Federico Chiesa (Fiorentina) To Score Anytime @2.60.
