Atlético Mineiro willing to sign Nathan if Chelsea lower €6.5m asking price — report

To yield or not to yield?

Chelsea midfielder Nathan is set to extend his loan with Atlético Mineiro through the end of the year at least, but both he and the club want to make that a more permanent arrangement. Unfortunately for the 24-year-old, Atlético-MG cannot afford him at the moment.
The player, whose Chelsea contract has been reportedly extended until next summer as well, has spent the past two years on loan at the Brazilian club and sees his long-term future there. But there are a lot of variables involved if a transfer were to occur, including Chelsea needing to lower our €6.5m valuation, as per Globo Esporte.
But Chelsea are not big on “discounts” and certainly would want to avoid setting such a precedent.

While another loan (extension) with Atlético-MG is hardly the ideal arrangement for any those involved, it’s the best available in the current economic climate. Nathan will just have to be a little patient and continue impressing and playing the way he has been.
