The Caltex Socceroos have risen two spots in the latest release of the FIFA world rankings on Thursday.
After remaining steady at number 44 over the last couple of months, Graham Arnold’s side have jumped to number 42, just behind fellow Asian Football Confederation rivals Korea Republic (41).
The rise comes after Australia’s historic 1-0 win in Jordan earlier this month, which maintained their perfect record in qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Caltex Socceroos remain the fourth-highest rated nation from the AFC, with Japan (28) now at the top, with Iran second (33) and Korea Republic.
There was no change in the top five, with Belgium still ranked number one ahead of France, Brazil, England and Uruguay.
The next rankings will be published in December.
